El mundo sabe “ya mucho” sobre el mpox, as\u00ed que no se le puede considerar “el nuevo covid”, afirm\u00f3 el martes el director para Europa de la Organizaci\u00f3n Mundial de la Salud (OMS), Hans Kluge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“El mpox no es el nuevo covid. Ya se trate del clado I del mpox, que origin\u00f3 la epidemia actual en \u00c1frica central y oriental, o del clado II del mpox, que origin\u00f3 la epidemia de 2022” en el mundo, declar\u00f3 Kluge en una rueda de prensa de las agencias de la ONU.

“Ya sabemos mucho sobre el clado II. A\u00fan nos queda por aprender del clado I”, afirm\u00f3, recalcando que “sabemos c\u00f3mo luchar contra el mpox”, antiguamente conocido como “viruela del mono”.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n


Ante el aumento de casos de mpox en Rep\u00fablica Democr\u00e1tica del Congo, a causa del subtipo clado Ib, que tambi\u00e9n afecta a Burundi, Kenia, Ruanda y Uganda, la OMS decidi\u00f3 decretar una emergencia santiaria p\u00fablica internacional el 14 de agosto, el m\u00e1ximo nivel de alerta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
